Oleg Molchan’s Song “Krasavitsa Vlyubitsya” Performed by the Vocal Group Chistiy Golos
In celebration of Oleg Molchan’s milestone year, Irina Vidova and Ray Records are releasing new recordings of the Maestro’s songs every Friday. Today’s offering is the composition “Krasavitsa vlyubitsya,” performed by the renowned vocal group Chistiy Golos.
Oleg Molchan’s friendship with Valery Prigun, artistic director of Chistiy Golos, dates back to their youth. The two first crossed paths during their military service in the Belarusian Army Song and Dance Ensemble. It was Chistiy Golos that Molchan entrusted with performing two compositions that were very important to him: “Pesnya maya” and “Rodnyya pesni.” Both pieces required an academic singing style, which Chistiy Golos mastered to perfection.
The story of how a third song by Oleg Molchan entered the repertoire of the vocal group is even more interesting. It all began when the performers asked the composer, “Write us a hit.” Molchan, with his characteristic sense of humor, replied, “Can you sing hits?” It turned out they could. And so, a unique blend of strict academic style with romanticism, ease, and tenderness was born.
From the very first performance — during Oleg Molchan’s solo concert at the Belarusian Song and Poetry Festival in Molodechno — “Krasavitsa vlyubitsya” resonated deeply with audiences. The song quickly became an anthem for young people “by patronymic,” yearning to escape “loneliness in a crowded café.”
This song combines everything: Molchan’s seemingly light and playful music, the lyrics by Irina Vidova inspired by the realities of modern young women, and the exquisite performance — as if the artists are singing for a single, one-of-a-kind krasavitsa (lit. “beauty”).
Since November 21, the track has been available on all digital platforms.
