Oleg Molchan’s Song Prileteli Gusi” Performed by Vadim Kosenko

As the new year unfolds, Irina Vidova and Ray Records continue their mission to preserve the legacy of Oleg Molchan by unveiling fresh premieres and new releases of his most celebrated works. Today marks the debut of “Prileteli gusi” featuring lyrics by Irina Vidova and a masterful performance by Vadim Kosenko.

The song was originally performed by Vladimir Marusich, the drummer for the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesniary. Oleg Molchan, who invited Marusich to join the band, recalled a long search for the right drummer before finally choosing Vladimir. Beyond his percussion skills, Marusich was also a talented vocalist. To showcase this, Oleg Molchan suggested Vladimir sing “Prileteli gusi.” The song became a massive hit, and while its incredible beauty left a lasting impression on 1990s audiences, it has long awaited a revival.

Life moves on, and today the song returns with new lyrics penned by Irina Vidova and a powerful performance by Vadim Kosenko. Like Marusich before him, Kosenko was personally invited to join the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesniary by Oleg Molchan. Beyond their professional collaboration, both musicians shared a deep personal friendship with the composer. They remained close until the end, visiting Molchan frequently during his time in the hospital.

Vadim Kosenko delivers a deeply moving rendition, pouring his soul into the performance. Known for his vibrant vocals, unforgettable timbre, and flawless technique, Kosenko makes every note resonate. The line “We have become but distant echoes to each other” feels especially poignant, reflecting Vadim’s enduring grief over the loss of his friend. For him, performing Molchan’s repertoire is more than a professional duty; it is a tribute of honor, intended to bring these timeless melodies to the concert stage and inspire the musical sensibilities of a new generation.

“Prileteli gusi” is now available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
