Oleg Molchan’s Song “Miliy Moi” with Lyrics by Irina Vidova

In celebration of Oleg Molchan’s jubilee year, Irina Vidova and Ray Records are unveiling new songs by the Maestro every Friday. Today marks the premiere of the composition “Miliy Moi,” performed by Irina Vidova.

In fact, this is a double premiere, as the song now features new lyrics penned by Irina Vidova. “Oleg wrote this composition in 1994, and since then I’ve dreamed of performing it. It was a beautiful song, but not mine. Of course, I discussed this with my husband. He said, ‘Women like you don’t go off to distant lands, the audience wouldn’t believe it,’” Irina recalls. “He gifted me several albums about happy love, and I’ve cherished them.

“Oleg Molchan left this world six years ago. During this time, as I’ve been releasing collections of his music, I’ve rediscovered his artistry anew. But his style has always been consistent — that’s the hallmark of Oleg Molchan. As a music producer, he explored various genres, but the techniques in his piano arrangements are uniquely characteristic of him. I also took his comments on the lyrics into account. Now, ‘Miliy Moi’ has become a heartfelt story of parting, imbued with gentle feminine energy and the enduring power of love that never lets go.”

With the new lyrics, this song seems to have matured. It now speaks of a woman who is not abandoned, who knows the secret of true happiness.
