Oleg Molchan’s Song “Oy, Vy Drugi” Performed by Akim Tyshko
In celebration of Oleg Molchan’s anniversary year, Irina Vidova and Ray Records are proud to present new recordings of the Maestro’s timeless compositions. The song “Oy, vy drugi moi, drugi” is performed by Akim Tyshko.
This song was first performed by the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesniary, where Oleg Molchan served as musical director, composer, arranger, and pianist.
Back in 1996, the Assembly of Cossack Atamans awarded composer Oleg Molchan the rank of yesaul in recognition of his songs “Gulyay, Kazak!” and “Oy, vy drugi moi, drugi,” set to the lyrics by Uladzimir Nyaklyayew. Pesniary performed these pieces from their program “The Cossack Volnitsa” during a vacation at the Belaya Rus sanatorium in Tuapse.
The composition “Oy, vy drugi moi, drugi” will mark its 30th anniversary in 2026. Despite the passing years, this heartfelt song remains a cherished part of the repertoire for numerous ensembles. Now, it has found a new voice in Akim Tyshko’s rendition. While it may seem to be a song about Cossacks, it carries profound philosophical meaning. Its exceptional quality and emotional depth make it a favorite, warmly embraced both in Russia and Belarus. From the very first notes, it feels like an old friend — familiar as if known throughout a lifetime.
The track is available on all digital platforms.
