Immortal Regiment Anthem Released on Ray Records
On the eve of Victory Day, the digital premiere of the song “Bessmertniy polk” (“Immortal Regiment”), written by Valeria Lesovskaya, took place. The release was produced in collaboration with the music publishing company Ray Records.
In 2021, this original song was recorded together with students of the Lider Private School (directed by G.G. Shchetinina) and was first performed for a wide audience at the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow. Later, the Immortal Regiment of Russia social movement presented a music video for this patriotic work to mark the 80th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. At that time, veterans expressed hope for the composition’s wide distribution — especially among the younger generation — and shared their wish for it to become the official anthem of the Immortal Regiment movement.
The music and lyrics were written by composer, poet, and singer Valeria Lesovskaya. The piece is performed by opera singer Mikhail Gavrilov, known as the “Voice of the Immortal Regiment of Russia,” and the Fyodor Kozlov Choir of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Military Service. Mikhail Gavrilov is a renowned baritone who performs at prestigious concert halls and opera houses in Russia and abroad and is a laureate of international competitions. The Choir of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Military Service was organized by former frontline soldiers in 1975 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Victory. Today, the choir bears the name of its first artistic director and conductor, Fyodor Mikhailovich Kozlov. The ensemble performs at military units, academies, and cadet corps. Their repertoire includes wartime classics and original songs created by the choir members themselves.
Since April 30, the anthem “Bessmertniy polk” has been available for download and streaming on all digital platforms.
