Irina Shorkina Releases Classic Romance “Ya Ekhala Domoy”

The classic romance “Ya ekhala domoy” (I Was Going Home), performed by singer Irina Shorkina, arrived on digital music platforms on August 14, 2026. The release was produced and launched in collaboration with the music publishing company Ray Records.

“Ya ekhala domoy” was written at the turn of the 20th century by the celebrated Russian actress, singer, and composer Maria Poiret. Both the lyrics and music are infused with autobiographical drama, reflecting the turbulent romantic struggles of the author’s own life. The song rapidly gained widespread popularity thanks to its raw sincerity, beautiful melody, and deep lyricism.

The romance takes on a new, deeply poignant sound in this rendition by Irina Shorkina – a laureate of all-Russian and international competitions, Honored Artist of the Chuvash Republic, and leading soloist for both Mosconcert and the Rimsky-Korsakov Central Exemplary Concert Band of the Russian Navy. The singer is accompanied by acclaimed musicians Maxim Timofeev on piano and Grigory Zaitsev on double bass.

This new track is a true gift for Irina Shorkina’s extensive fanbase and all connoisseurs of traditional Russian romances. The single is available for streaming and download on all digital music services.
